I am someone who constantly lives in what I call "What If" land.
For some reason, my brain loves to think about "what if" this or that happens.
In many ways, it causes a lot of stress. I constantly think, "What if they are mad? What if this is stupid? What if I fail?"
On and on.
It can lead you down a deep hole if you let it.
You run in circles and suddenly find yourself lost in the forest, unable to see the trees.
It can be a spiral... but I like to use this trick to stop that; I call it the "reframe."
I try to reframe every situation into something that happened in my favor.
I pause and say "reframe," and then try to switch every bad "what if" into something good.
There might be a lot of bad that could happen in whatever you are doing right now—that is true.
You can sit and think about it and live in negative "What If" land (which I typically do without noticing).
Or... you can reframe everything.
Because at the end of the day, there are two sides to everything.
So, you must think: while there is the "What if I fail," there is also the "What if this works?"
It all just depends on which thought you want to occupy your mind.
Keep the trash in the trash and let the good "what ifs" take over your mind.
